2021-09-28Switch from pretty-simple to pretty-show for native output.John MacFarlane1-1678/+1529
Update tests. Reason: it turns out that the native output generated by pretty-simple isn't always readable by the native reader. According to https://github.com/cdepillabout/pretty-simple/issues/99 it is not a design goal of the library that the rendered values be readable using 'read'. This makes it unsuitable for our purposes. pretty-show is a bit slower and it uses 4-space indents (non-configurable), but it doesn't have this serious drawback.
2021-09-21Use pretty-simple to format native output.John MacFarlane1-443/+1874
Previously we used our own homespun formatting. But this produces over-long lines that aren't ideal for diffs in tests. Easier to use something off-the-shelf and standard. Closes #7580. Performance is slower by about a factor of 10, but this isn't really a problem because native isn't suitable as a serialization format. (For serialization you should use json, because the reader is so much faster than native.)
2021-01-07T.P.Parsing: modify gridTableWith' for headerless tables.John MacFarlane1-21/+3
If the table lacks a header, the header row should be an empty list. Previously we got a list of empty cells, which caused an empty header to be emitted instead of no header. In LaTeX/PDF output that meant we got a double top line with space between. @tarleb @despres - please let me know if this is problematic for some reason I'm not grasping.
2020-04-15Adapt to the removal of the RowSpan, ColSpan, RowHeadColumns accessorsdespresc1-57/+57
2020-04-15Adapt to the newest Table type, fix some previous adaptation issuesdespresc1-117/+159
- Writers.Native is now adapted to the new Table type. - Inline captions should now be conditionally wrapped in a Plain, not a Para block. - The toLegacyTable function now lives in Writers.Shared.

2019-02-25Shared.compactify: Avoid mixed lists.John MacFarlane1-5/+5
This improves on the original fix to #5285 by preventing other mixed lists (lists with a mix of Plain and Para elements) that were allowed given the original fix.
2019-01-08Removed superfluous sourceCode class on code blocks.John MacFarlane1-4/+4
* These were added by the RST reader and, for literate Haskell, by the Markdown and LaTeX readers. There is no point to this class, and it is not applied consistently by all readers. See #5047. * Reverse order of `literate` and `haskell` classes on code blocks when parsing literate Haskell. Better if `haskell` comes first.
2018-08-05RST reader: improve parsing of inline interpreted text roles.John MacFarlane1-1/+1
* Use a Span with class "title-reference" for the default title-reference role. * Use B.text to split up contents into Spaces, SoftBreaks, and Strs for title-reference. * Use Code with class "interpreted-text" instead of Span and Str for unknown roles. (The RST writer has also been modified to round-trip this properly.) * Disallow blank lines in interpreted text. * Backslash-escape now works in interpreted text. * Backticks followed by alphanumerics no longer end interpreted text. Closes #4811.
2018-01-14RST reader: add aligned environment when needed in math.John MacFarlane1-1/+1
rst2latex.py uses an align* environment for math in `.. math::` blocks, so this math may contain line breaks. If it does, we put the math in an `aligned` environment to simulate rst2latex.py's behavior. Closes #4254.
2017-02-26RST reader: support scale and align attributes of images.John MacFarlane1-1/+1
Closes #2662.
