The `\n` export option turns all newlines in the text into hard
linebreaks.
Closes #3950
|
|
This rewrite is primarily motivated by the need to
get macros working properly. A side benefit is that the
reader is significantly faster (27s -> 19s in one
benchmark, and there is a lot of room for further
optimization).
We now tokenize the input text, then parse the token stream.
Macros modify the token stream, so they should now be effective
in any context, including math. Thus, we no longer need the clunky
macro processing capacities of texmath.
A custom state LaTeXState is used instead of ParserState.
This, plus the tokenization, will require some rewriting
of the exported functions rawLaTeXInline, inlineCommand,
rawLaTeXBlock.
* Added Text.Pandoc.Readers.LaTeX.Types (new exported module).
Exports Macro, Tok, TokType, Line, Column. [API change]
* Text.Pandoc.Parsing: adjusted type of `insertIncludedFile`
so it can be used with token parser.
* Removed old texmath macro stuff from Parsing.
Use Macro from Text.Pandoc.Readers.LaTeX.Types instead.
* Removed texmath macro material from Markdown reader.
* Changed types for Text.Pandoc.Readers.LaTeX's
rawLaTeXInline and rawLaTeXBlock. (Both now return a String,
and they are polymorphic in state.)
* Added orgMacros field to OrgState. [API change]
* Removed readerApplyMacros from ReaderOptions.
Now we just check the `latex_macros` reader extension.
* Allow `\newcommand\foo{blah}` without braces.

Tags are appended to headlines by default, but will be omitted when the
`tags` export option is set to nil.

Copy-pasting had lead to haddock module descriptions containing the
wrong module names.

Parsing of smart quotes and special characters can either be enabled via
the `smart` language extension or the `'` and `-` export options. Smart
parsing is active if either the extension or export option is enabled.
Only smart parsing of special characters (like ellipses and en and em
dashes) is enabled by default, while smart quotes are disabled.
This means that all smart parsing features will be enabled by adding the
`smart` language extension. Fine-grained control is possible by leaving
the language extension disabled. In that case, smart parsing is
controlled via the aforementioned export OPTIONS only.
Previously, all smart parsing was disabled unless the language extension
was enabled.

Support for the `#+INCLUDE:` file inclusion mechanism was added.
Recognized include types are *example*, *export*, *src*, and normal org
file inclusion. Advanced features like line numbers and level selection
are not implemented yet.

Closes: #3401

The `F` monads used for delayed evaluation of certain values in the
Markdown and Org readers are based on a shared data type capturing the
common pattern of both `F` types.

|
As noted in the previous commit, an autogenerated identifier
may still coincide with an explicit identifier that is given
for a header later in the document, or with an identifier on
a div, span, link, or image. This commit adds a warning
in this case, so users can supply an explicit identifier.
* Added `DuplicateIdentifier` to LogMessage.
* Modified HTML, Org, MediaWiki readers so their custom
state type is an instance of HasLogMessages. This is necessary
for `registerHeader` to issue warnings.

The `todo` export option allows to toggle the inclusion of TODO keywords
in the output. Setting this to `nil` causes TODO keywords to be dropped
from headlines. The default is to include the keywords.
|
|
Headlines can have optional todo-markers which can be controlled via the
`#+TODO`, `#+SEQ_TODO`, or `#+TYP_TODO` meta directive. Multiple such
directives can be given, each adding a new set of recognized todo-markers.
If no custom todo-markers are defined, the default `TODO` and `DONE`
markers are used.
Todo-markers are conceptually separate from headline text and are hence
excluded when autogenerating headline IDs.
The markers are rendered as spans and labelled with two classes: One
class is the markers name, the other signals the todo-state of the
marker (either `todo` or `done`).

The `creator` option controls whether the creator meta-field should be
included in the final markup. Setting `#+OPTIONS: creator:nil` will
drop the creator field from the final meta-data output.
Org-mode recognizes the special value `comment` for this field, causing
the creator to be included in a comment. This is difficult to translate
to Pandoc internals and is hence interpreted the same as other truish
values (i.e. the meta field is kept if it's present).
|
|
The `email` option controls whether the email meta-field should be
included in the final markup. Setting `#+OPTIONS: email:nil` will drop
the email field from the final meta-data output.
|
|
The `author` option controls whether the author should be included in
the final markup. Setting `#+OPTIONS: author:nil` will drop the author
from the final meta-data output.
|
|
The depths of headlines can be modified using the `H` option. Deeper
headlines will be converted to lists.
|
|
Export option parsing is distinct enough from general block parsing to
justify putting it into a separate module.
|
|
Handling of archived trees can be modified using the `arch` option.
Archived trees are either dropped, exported completely, or collapsed to
include just the header when the `arch` option is nil, non-nil, or
`headline`, respectively.
|
|
Parsing of special strings (like '...' as ellipsis or '--' as en dash)
can be toggled using the `-` option.
|
|
Parsing of emphasized text can be toggled using the `*` option. This
influences parsing of text marked as emphasized, strong, strikeout, and
underline. Parsing of inline math, code, and verbatim text is not
affected by this option.
|
|
Reading of smart quotes can be toggled using the `'` option.

The `OrgParserState` contained both an `orgStateMeta` and
`orgStateMeta'` field, the former for plain meta information and the
latter for F-monad wrapped meta info. The plain meta info is only used
to make `OrgParserState` an instance of the `HasMeta` class, which in
turn is never used in the reader. The (F Meta) version is hence renamed
to the "un-primed" version while the other one is dropped.

The Org-mode reader uses many functions defined in the
`Text.Pandoc.Parsing` utility module. Some of the functions are
overwritten with versions adapted to Org-mode idiosyncrasies. These
special functions, as well as the normal Pandoc versions, are combined
in a single module to increase the ease of use.
This leads to decoupling of Org-mode and Pandoc and hence to slightly
cleaner code. The downside is code-bloat due to repeated import/export
statements.
|
|
The `d` export option can be used to control which drawers are exported
and which are discarded. Basic support for this option is added here.
|
|
A parser state attribute was used to keep track of block attributes
defined in meta-lines. Global state is undesirable, so block attributes
are no longer saved as part of the parser state. Old functions and the
respective part of the parser state are removed.
|
|
Org-mode allows to specify export settings via `#+OPTIONS` lines.
Disabling simple sub- and superscripts is one of these export options,
this options is now supported.
|
|
The org reader code has become large and confusing. Extracting smaller
parts into submodules should help to clean things up.
