A new type `SimpleTable` is made available to Lua filters. It is
similar to the `Table` type in pandoc versions before 2.10;
conversion functions from and to the new Table type are provided.
Old filters using tables now require minimal changes and can use,
e.g.,
if PANDOC_VERSION > {2,10,1} then
pandoc.Table = pandoc.SimpleTable
end
and
function Table (tbl)
tbl = pandoc.utils.to_simple_table(tbl)
…
return pandoc.utils.from_simple_table(tbl)
end
to work with the current pandoc version.

* Fix hlint suggestions, update hlint.yaml
Most suggestions were redundant brackets. Some required
LambdaCase.
The .hlint.yaml file had a small typo, and didn't ignore camelCase
suggestions in certain modules.
|
|
The new type `PandocLua` is an instance of the `PandocMonad` typeclass
and can thus be used in a way similar to `PandocIO`.
|
|
The PandocError type is used throughout the Lua subsystem, all Lua
functions throw an exception of this type if an error occurs. The
`LuaException` type is removed and no longer exported from
`Text.Pandoc.Lua`. In its place, a new constructor `PandocLuaError` is
added to PandocError.

* Avoid fmapping when we're just binding right after anyway
* Clean up unnecessary fmaps in the LaTeX reader
|
|
This should speed-up recompilation after changes in `Text.Pandoc.Class`,
as the number of modules affected by a change will be smaller in
general. It also offers faster insights into the parts of `T.P.Class`
used within a module.

* Use implicit Prelude
The previous behavior was introduced as a fix for #4464. It seems that
this change alone did not fix the issue, and `stack ghci` and `cabal
repl` only work with GHC 8.4.1 or newer, as no custom Prelude is loaded
for these versions. Given this, it seems cleaner to revert to the
implicit Prelude.
* PandocMonad: remove outdated check for base version
Only base versions 4.9 and later are supported, the check for
`MIN_VERSION_base(4,8,0)` is therefore unnecessary.
* Always use custom prelude
Previously, the custom prelude was used only with older GHC versions, as
a workaround for problems with ghci. The ghci problems are resolved by
replacing package `base` with `base-noprelude`, allowing for consistent
use of the custom prelude across all GHC versions.

* Update copyright year
* Copyright: add notes for Lua and Jira modules
|
|
All warnings are either fixed or, if more appropriate, HLint is
configured to ignore them. HLint suggestions remain.
* Ignore "Use camelCase" warnings in Lua and legacy code
* Fix or ignore remaining HLint warnings
* Remove redundant brackets
* Remove redundant `return`s
* Remove redundant as-pattern
* Fuse mapM_/map
* Use `.` to shorten code
* Remove redundant `fmap`
* Remove unused LANGUAGE pragmas
* Hoist `not` in Text.Pandoc.App
* Use fewer imports for `Text.DocTemplates`
* Remove redundant `do`s
* Remove redundant `$`s
* Jira reader: remove unnecessary parentheses

PR #5884.
+ Use pandoc-types 1.20 and texmath 0.12.
+ Text is now used instead of String, with a few exceptions.
+ In the MediaBag module, some of the types using Strings
were switched to use FilePath instead (not Text).
+ In the Parsing module, new parsers `manyChar`, `many1Char`,
`manyTillChar`, `many1TillChar`, `many1Till`, `manyUntil`,
`mantyUntilChar` have been added: these are like their
unsuffixed counterparts but pack some or all of their output.
+ `glob` in Text.Pandoc.Class still takes String since it seems
to be intended as an interface to Glob, which uses strings.
It seems to be used only once in the package, in the EPUB writer,
so that is not hard to change.
|
|
+ An error is now raised if you try to specify (enable or
disable) an extension that does not affect the given
format, e.g. `docx+pipe_tables`.
+ The `--list-extensions[=FORMAT]` option now lists only
extensions that affect the given FORMAT.
+ Text.Pandoc.Error: Add constructors `PandocUnknownReaderError`,
`PandocUnknownWriterError`, `PandocUnsupportedExtensionError`.
[API change]
+ Text.Pandoc.Extensions now exports `getAllExtensions`,
which returns the extensions that affect a given format
(whether enabled by default or not). [API change]
+ Text.Pandoc.Extensions: change type of `parseFormatSpec`
from `Either ParseError (String, Extensions -> Extensions)`
to `Either ParseError (String, [Extension], [Extension])`
[API change].
+ Text.Pandoc.Readers: change type of `getReader` so it returns
a value in the PandocMonad instance rather than an Either
[API change]. Exceptions for unknown formats and unsupported
extensions are now raised by this function and need not be handled by
the calling function.
+ Text.Pandoc.Writers: change type of `getWriter` so it returns
a value in the PandocMonad instance rather than an Either
[API change]. Exceptions for unknown formats and unsupported
extensions are now raised by this function and need not be handled by
the calling function.

Text.Pandoc.Shared:
+ Remove `Element` type [API change]
+ Remove `makeHierarchicalize` [API change]
+ Add `makeSections` [API change]
+ Export `deLink` [API change]
Now that we have Divs, we can use them to represent the structure
of sections, and we don't need a special Element type.
`makeSections` reorganizes a block list, adding Divs with
class `section` around sections, and adding numbering
if needed.
This change also fixes some longstanding issues recognizing
section structure when the document contains Divs.
Closes #3057, see also #997.
All writers have been changed to use `makeSections`.
Note that in the process we have reverted the change
c1d058aeb1c6a331a2cc22786ffaab17f7118ccd
made in response to #5168, which I'm not completely
sure was a good idea.
Lua modules have also been adjusted accordingly.
Existing lua filters that use `hierarchicalize` will
need to be rewritten to use `make_sections`.

|
Traversal methods are updated to use the new Walk module such that
sequences with nested Inline (or Block) elements are traversed in the
order in which they appear in the linearized document.
Fixes: #5667
|
|
|
|
Fixed function names of pandoc.system.get_working_directory() and
pandoc.system.with_temporary_directory() which are written in the
manual of lua filter.

Closes: #5568

|
Function `pandoc.mediabag.delete` allows to remove a single item of the given
name from the media bag.
|
|
Function `pandoc.mediabag.empty` was added. It allows to clean-out the media
bag, removing all entries.
|
|
A new function `pandoc.mediabag.items` was added to Lua module
pandoc.mediabag. This allows users to lazily iterate over all media bag
items, loading items into Lua one-by-one. Example:
for filename, mime_type, content in pandoc.mediabag.items() do
-- use media bag item.
end
This is a convenient alternative to using `mediabag.list` in combination
with `mediabag.lookup`.

|
Version specifiers like `PANDOC_VERSION` and `PANDOC_API_VERSION` are
turned into `Version` objects. The objects simplify version-appropriate
comparisons while maintaining backward-compatibility.
A function `pandoc.types.Version` is added as part of the newly
introduced module `pandoc.types`, allowing users to create version
objects in scripts.
|
|
The `system` Lua module provides utility functions to interact with the
operating- and file system. E.g.
print(pandoc.system.get_current_directory())
or
pandoc.system.with_temporary_directory('tikz', function (dir)
-- write and compile a TikZ file with pdflatex
end)

|
The haddock module header contains essentially the
same information, so the boilerplate is redundant and
just one more thing to get out of sync.
|
|
|
|
This allows more control over the common state from within Lua scripts.
|
|
Quite a few modules were missing copyright notices.
This commit adds copyright notices everywhere via haddock module
headers. The old license boilerplate comment is redundant with this and has
been removed.
Update copyright years to 2019.
Closes #4592.

Equality of Lua objects representing pandoc AST elements is tested by
unmarshalling the objects and comparing the result in Haskell. A new
function `equals` which performs this test has been added to the
`pandoc.utils` module.
Closes: #5092

Meta value strings (MetaString) and booleans (MetaBool) are now
converted to the literal string and the lowercase boolean name,
respectively. Previously, all values of these types were converted to
the empty string.

Exposes a function converting which flattenes a list of blocks into a
list of inlines. An example use case would be the conversion of Note
elements into other inlines.
|
|
This seems to be necessary if we are to use our custom Prelude
with ghci.
Closes #4464.
|
|
Lua functions used to construct AST element values are stored in the Lua
registry for quicker access. Getting a value from the registry is much
faster than getting a global value (partly to idiosyncrasies of hslua);
this change results in a considerable performance boost.

Runs a JSON filter on a Pandoc document.
|
|
|
|
Some helper functions and types have been moved to hslua.
Change: minor
|
|
I'm sure this was intended in the first place, but currently
only Meta is supported.
|
|
Convert list of Pandoc blocks into (hierarchical) list of Elements.
|
|
The function parses a date and converts it (if possible) to "YYYY-MM-DD"
format.
|
|
The function allows conversion of numbers below 4000 into roman
numerals.
|
|
The new function `pandoc.utils.stringify` converts any AST element to a
string with formatting removed.
|
|
A new module `pandoc.utils` has been created. It holds utility functions
like `sha1`, which was moved from the main `pandoc` module.
|
|
Definitions for the `pandoc.mediabag` modules are moved to a separate
Haskell module.
Change: minor
|
|
The Haskell module defining the Lua `pandoc` module is moved to
Text.Pandoc.Lua.Module.Pandoc.
